Privacy Policy
SOS Radar values your privacy. This privacy policy explains how this application processes data, uses system permissions, and synchronizes necessary information between nearby devices in the current version.
1. Scope of Application
This policy applies to the SOS Radar iOS application and its related support website pages. If accounts, cloud services, statistical analysis, crash data collection, advertising, payments, or other online services are added in the future, this policy should be updated accordingly.
2. Data Processing Overview in the Current Version
The current version of SOS Radar does not offer account registration, does not connect to the application’s own servers, does not include an advertising SDK, and does not process data for advertising or cross-application tracking purposes.
The core data processing of this application occurs locally on your device and in peer-to-peer communication with nearby discovered or connected SOS Radar devices.
3. Data Types We Handle
To implement SOS search and broadcast functionality, this application may process the following data:

4. Location data description
This application only uses location when required for functionality:

Search mode: Used to calculate the GPS location between the searcher and the SOS device and view the target location on the system map.

SOS mode: Location is retrieved once and cached after entering the SOS page; when a connected searcher exists, the GPS snapshot is updated according to the policy and synchronized with the other party.

Home or standby state: Used for permission status judgment; if you have not enabled “Background Search”, this application will not request “Always Allow Location” permission when on the home or standby state.

Background Search: Off by default. This app only requests “Always Allow Location” permission when you actively enable background search on the home screen. It uses iBeacon area detection to detect nearby SOS Beacons when the app is not in the foreground, and then notifies you to start the search via a local notification.
This app filters out inaccurate location results to reduce incorrect radar directions. In SOS mode, location snapshots may be sent to nearby connected search devices to assist in rescue efforts.
Background search is not the same as continuous background GPS tracking. This app uses the system-provided iBeacon area detection capability. Whether it can wake up or alert in a timely manner is affected by iOS system policies, permission status, Bluetooth and location settings, notification settings, and whether the user manually forces the app to close.
5. Bluetooth and Local Network Description
This app uses Bluetooth/iBeacon to discover nearby devices and uses the local network/MultipeerConnectivity to synchronize necessary metadata between nearby devices, such as GPS snapshots, device roles, Beacon identifiers, and audio control messages.
This data is used for near-field SOS discovery and collaboration, not for advertising profiling or cross-application tracking.
6. Audio and Volume Description
In SOS mode, searchers can trigger the SOS device to play a local warning tone after a successful connection. This application reads the system output volume to determine if the volume is 0 or the warning tone may not be audible, and displays a prompt on the interface.
This application does not record audio, access the microphone, or upload audio content.
7. Data Sharing
In the current version, this application does not upload your data to its own servers, nor does it sell, rent, or share your personal information for advertising purposes.
When you use the SOS or search function, the following data may be shared with nearby devices running SOS radar that have been discovered or connected:

Beacon roles and identifiers.

GPS coordinates, location accuracy, and timestamps.

Peer information required for peer-to-peer connections.

Warning tone control messages sent by searchers to the SOS device.
In addition, system maps, location, Bluetooth, and local network capabilities are provided by iOS and Apple system services. Your use of these system services is also subject to Apple’s relevant policies.
8. Data Storage and Retention
The current version primarily caches data locally on the device and in runtime memory:

GPS snapshots are used for the current SOS/Search session and synchronization with nearby devices.

Beacon signals and peer status are used for the current scan, broadcast, and radar display.

A stable native Beacon minor identifier is stored locally to identify the same device and avoid generating different identities each time the app launches.

The background search switch status is stored locally to remember your choices. The default state is off.
Uninstalling the app typically deletes the app’s local data. iOS or Apple services may retain data related to system functions, depending on iOS and Apple settings.
9. Data Security
This app minimizes data processing, handling only the data necessary to implement the proximity SOS functionality. MultipeerConnectivity sessions between nearby devices use system-provided encrypted connection preferences. However, no wireless communication or local device storage method can guarantee absolute security. Please avoid abusing this application in untrusted environments and do not use it as the sole means of seeking help or location.
10. Your Choices and Control
You can manage the following permissions through iOS Settings:

Location permission.

“Always Allow Location” permission: Only for SOS iBeacon area monitoring alerts after you actively enable background searches.

Bluetooth permission.

Local network permission.
-
System-related settings such as notifications, sounds, and maps.
Disabling these permissions may cause the application’s nearby discovery, SOS broadcasts, GPS synchronization, map display, or audio prompts to malfunction.
11. Use by Minors
This application may be used for outdoor activities, rescue drills, or emergency scenarios. Minors should use this application under the guidance of a guardian. Guardians should understand the limitations of this application and ensure that minors do not use it for false distress calls, tracking others, or other inappropriate purposes.
12. Policy Updates
We may update this policy based on product features, laws and regulations, or app listing requirements. The updated policy will be published on the relevant page on the website or app. If the changes involve important data processing methods, we will try our best to notify you through reasonable means.
