User Agreement

Welcome to SOS Radar (hereinafter referred to as “this application”). Before using this application, please carefully read and understand this User Agreement. By using, launching, or continuing to use this application, you indicate that you have read and agree to this agreement.

1. Service Description

SOS Radar is a short-range SOS detection and assisted search and rescue tool based on the capabilities of iOS devices. This application uses iBeacon, Bluetooth, local network, MultipeerConnectivity, positioning and orientation sensors to detect SOS signals between nearby devices, display distance/direction references, synchronize GPS snapshots, and support searchers triggering local warning sounds to SOS devices.

This application primarily includes the following modes:

• Home: Enters search or SOS mode, with the user able to choose whether to enable background search.

• Search Mode: Searchers scan nearby SOS devices, viewing radar direction, distance, GPS status, and can open the system map to view the target location.

• SOS Mode: The person seeking help broadcasts an SOS signal, caches and synchronizes GPS snapshots with connected searchers, and receives local warning sounds triggered by searchers.

• Background Search: Off by default. When actively enabled by the user, this application will request background location and notification permissions to remind the user to start a search via SOS iBeacon area monitoring when the application is not in the foreground.

2. Non-Professional Rescue Disclaimer

This application only provides assistance in discovery, location, and short-range collaboration; it is not a substitute for official emergency services, professional rescue, medical treatment, life safety guarantees, or emergency communication services.

In emergency situations, you should prioritize contacting local emergency services, fire departments, medical emergency services, maritime services, mountain rescue services, or other official rescue channels. Do not rely solely on this application for distress calls, search and rescue, or safety decisions.

3. Location and Distance Accuracy Limitations

The distance, direction, radar location, and map position displayed in this application may be affected by the following factors:

• GPS signal strength, building obstruction, valleys, indoor environment, weather, and device hardware status.

• Bluetooth signal strength, human presence, device orientation, and system power consumption policies.

• iOS location permissions, Bluetooth permissions, local network permissions, and system background restrictions.

• Whether background search is enabled, and whether the system allows background location, notifications, and area detection wake-up.

• Whether the other device is running in the foreground, whether its screen is always on, and whether its battery is sufficient.

• Whether the other device has successfully connected and synced GPS snapshots.

Therefore, the distance and direction displayed in this application are for reference only and are not guaranteed to be real-time, continuous, complete, or absolutely accurate.

4. Usage Conditions

When using this application, you should ensure that:

• You are using a compatible iPhone or iPad device.

• Bluetooth, location, and local network permissions are enabled.

• In SOS mode, keep the application running in the foreground as much as possible and keep the screen on as prompted.

• When you need to receive an alarm sound, turn on the speakerphone and increase the volume.

• In search mode, combine the surrounding environment, map, visual judgment, and other communication methods to confirm.

5. User Behavior Guidelines

You must not use this application to engage in the following behaviors:

• False alarms, prank calls for help, or disrupting rescue operations.

• Tracking, harassing, threatening, locating, or monitoring others.

• Collecting, disseminating, or publicly disclosing the location of others without authorization.

• Damaging, reversing, or interfering with this application’s Bluetooth broadcasting, local network connection, or data synchronization mechanisms.

• Other behaviors that violate applicable laws and regulations, public order and good morals, or the legitimate rights and interests of third parties.

You are solely responsible for any consequences arising from your violation of the above requirements.

6. Permissions

To achieve core functionality, this application may request the following system permissions:

• Location permission: Used to discover nearby SOS devices, calculate relative location, cache, and synchronize GPS snapshots.

• Background Location Permission: Requested only when you actively enable “Background Search,” used to trigger search alerts via SOS iBeacon area detection when the app is not in the foreground. Background Search is disabled by default.

• Bluetooth Permission: Used for iBeacon discovery, ranging, and SOS broadcasting.

• Local Network Permission: Used to synchronize rescue coordinates and control messages between nearby devices.

• Notification Permission: Requested only in scenarios requiring alerts, such as when background search is enabled, to indicate a potential SOS request nearby.

• Audio Playback Capability: Used to play warning sounds triggered by search personnel on SOS devices.

You can disable these permissions in iOS “Settings.” However, disabling permissions may result in some or all functions being unavailable.

Background Search relies on iOS’s CoreLocation iBeacon area detection and system notification capabilities. Even if you have enabled background search, the app may not wake up or send alerts in a timely manner if the user manually forces the app to close, the system restricts background operation, Bluetooth or location is turned off, notifications are turned off, the device is not unlocked after a restart, or other system policies are applied.

7. Maps and Third-Party System Services

The map button in search mode will invoke the system Apple Maps to display the target location and the system’s current location. Maps services are provided by Apple, and their availability, display style, route capabilities, blue dot style, and privacy handling are controlled by Apple Maps and the iOS system.

This app does not control the style of the “My Location” marker in Apple Maps, nor does it guarantee that Apple Maps will display the arrow direction or real-time following direction.

8. Audio Alarm Function

Once an available connection is established between the SOS device and the search device, the searcher can trigger the SOS device to play a high-volume alarm tone. This function is intended to aid in on-site location and should not be used for intimidation, harassment, or other inappropriate purposes.

The alarm tone may not play or be heard due to factors such as the device being muted, volume being 0, speaker unavailable, system audio policies, battery level, or connection status.

9. Costs and Network

The current version of this app primarily communicates via Bluetooth Near Field and local network, and does not rely on the app’s own servers. Using system maps or iOS system services may incur data traffic or other charges from your mobile carrier, network service provider, or Apple services, subject to the rules of the relevant service provider.

10. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, the interface, code, icons, name, text, design, and related content of this application belong to the developer or legal rights holder. Unauthorized copying, modification, distribution, sale, rental, reverse engineering, or use for any commercial derivative purpose is prohibited.

11. Disclaimer

To the extent permitted by applicable law, this application is provided “as is” and “as available.” The developer makes no warranties regarding the following:

• This application will continuously discover, connect to, or synchronize devices in all environments.

• Location, distance, direction, map display, or audio alerts will be completely accurate, timely, or reliable.

• This application is a substitute for official emergency calls, professional rescue, medical assistance, or secure communication.

• This application will not be affected by system limitations, device malfunctions, disabled permissions, environmental interference, or low battery power.

The developer shall not be liable for any direct or indirect losses arising from the use or inability to use this application, to the extent permitted by applicable law, unless otherwise mandated by law.

12. Agreement Changes

The developer may modify this agreement based on product updates, changes in laws and regulations, or operational needs. The updated agreement will be published on the website or relevant pages within the application. Your continued use of this application constitutes acceptance of the updated agreement.
